东亚地区是全球生物多样性最为丰富的重要区域之一，具有复杂的地质演化历史和多样的气候环境，孕育了极其丰富且独特的生物区系。该地区不仅是全球温带植物多样性的重要中心，也是众多古老类群的“避难所”和新类群的“演化摇篮”，在全球生物多样性格局形成与演化研究中占据重要地位。近年来，随着系统发育基因组学、宏观生物地理学、生态位模型及大数据分析等新技术和新方法的快速发展，东亚生物多样性的起源、演化、维持机制及其对全球变化的响应研究取得了重要进展，为深入认识区域生物多样性形成机制及制定科学保护策略提供了新的视角和重要支撑。

2026年适逢我国著名植物学家吴征镒先生诞辰110周年，为纪念吴征镒先生在中国植物区系地理学和生物多样性研究领域做出的卓越贡献，云南吴征镒科学基金会拟于2026年12月5日至8日在腾冲科学家论坛期间举办“2026东亚生物多样性与生物地理国际学术研讨会暨吴征镒先生诞辰110周年学术思想交流会”，会议聚焦“全球气候变化下东亚生物多样性研究与保护策略”主题，诚邀国内外相关领域专家学者，共同探讨东亚生物多样性研究前沿问题，展示最新研究成果，并为区域生物多样性保护提供科学参考。

East Asia is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world, characterized by a complex geological history and diverse climatic conditions that have fostered exceptionally rich and unique biota. The region is not only an important center of global temperate plant diversity, but also serves as both a refuge for many ancient lineages and an evolutionary cradle for newly diversified taxa. As such, East Asia plays a pivotal role in understanding the formation and evolution of global biodiversity patterns.

In recent years, rapid advances in phylogenomics, macrobiogeography, ecological niche modeling, and big-data analyses have greatly enhanced our understanding of the origin, evolution, maintenance mechanisms, and responses of East Asian biodiversity to global environmental change. These developments provide new perspectives and important scientific support for biodiversity conservation strategies.

The year 2026 marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of Professor Zhengyi Wu, a distinguished Chinese botanist and phytogeographer who made outstanding contributions to plant geography and biodiversity research in China. To commemorate his remarkable achievements, the Yunnan Zhengyi Wu Science Foundation, and the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences will jointly host the 2026 International Symposium on Biodiversity and Biogeography in East Asia and the Symposium Commemorating the 110th Anniversary of the Birth of Professor Zhengyi Wu in Tengchong, Yunnan Province, China, from December 5 to 8, 2026.

Experts and scholars from around the world are warmly invited to discuss frontier topics in East Asian biodiversity research, share recent scientific advances, and explore conservation strategies for regional biodiversity.
